Ned Weidner

I am a coach, professor, and rites of passage guide trained and seasoned in the nature of council, rites of passage, tracking and awareness techniques, the practice of embodied masculinity.

I founded Wildness Within because nature and wildness have always been my teachers through beautiful and challenging moments, and I wanted to share what I have learned with the world so that together we can grow and heal.

I have walked many roads as a man. For fifteen years, I started colts and rehabbed "problem" horses.  I have spent many years hunting, fishing, surviving, and thriving in the backcountry in Appalachia, Patagonia, and most recently the Sierra Nevada.  On these roads, I have had many teachers (animal, plant, and human) who have helped me become the man I am today. Horses have taught me to listen to my wildness. Plants have shown me how to live from my heart. From waters, I have learned how to love.  Through each I have learned the power of my own medicine.

As a student of the internationally known tracker, Tom Brown Jr, Scott has learned primitive survival skills, animal and human tracking, as well as advanced awareness and conscious tuning techniques. Once he learned these teachings, Scott realized that he would be a student of Nature, and these teachings for the rest of his life. From the tranquil streams where elusive trout dance beneath the surface to the rugged terrain where majestic elk roam, Scott's reverence for the natural world knows no bounds.

His expertise in fly fishing and hunting is matched only by his reverence for the sacred rituals hidden within the wilderness. As a guardian of temescal (sweat lodge), Scott has witnessed firsthand the  power of ancient ceremonies, guiding men through the flames of purification towards inner harmony and wholeness.

But Scott's journey is more than just a quest for adventure; it's a profound odyssey of self-discovery and healing. Having navigated his own inner landscapes, Scott understands the depths of trauma and the power of brotherhood in the journey towards reclaiming one's divine masculine essence.

In addition to his wilderness expertise, Scott is a US Navy wartime veteran, bringing a depth of resilience and honor forged in the crucible of service to his country. His military experience infuses his guidance with a profound sense of duty, discipline, and devotion to the well-being of those under his care.
